Tenure Year 3 Parameters

Appendix D2 — Year Three Evaluation

In the third year of tenure review, the emphasis continues to be on effective teaching, participation in department and division meetings, and contribution to the college through committee work or other college service.

  • The committee should look for evidence that the evaluatee:
  • continues to demonstrate effective teaching and classroom management skills;
  • participates in department and division meetings;
  • continues to demonstrate professionalism and collegiality;
  • has become increasingly involved in campus governance; and
  • has participated in professional growth activities designed to improve teaching skills, maintain currency in the discipline, or develop professionally.

During the third year, the evaluatee should show evidence of progress and responsiveness to previous evaluations, and continued improvement in areas previously identified as needing development.

This section summarizes the Year 3 criteria outlined in Appendix D2 of the VCCCD–AFT Contract and shows how this portfolio provides evidence of each area.
Year 3 emphasizes continued professional growth, active campus engagement, and sustained teaching effectiveness.
